:) :) BOOK REVIEW :) :)
Listening can be categorized as the first skill that we have to learn before speaking, reading and writing. in the books that I have read I found 5 topics that related to listening. Firstly, my e-book tells about listening to the social, cultural, and community contexts of students lives. Secondly, Elva Risa Adriani's book which is purposed on stimulating integration of real-world cultural information for students to know and share. thirdly, Anisa Wahyuni's book about listen for differences. Then, the book of group 3 about group listening. The last book is Putri Rahma Nami’s book about the value of focus groups. In this section I focus on Teaching Listening base on groups.
First book is about Listening to The Social, Cultural and Community Contexts of Stidents Lives. We have already known that each students have different cultural background or it can be as the habitual. Some students spend a relatively small portion of their day inside the classroom. Such habits like that can make students less likely to socialize. For many students, their lives begin after the school bell rings. Researchers have documanted organized programs that provide rich opportunities for youth to develope their talents and extand their knowledge. For example, being participating in the more formal programs, adolescents gather in informal locations, enganging in sports and variety of activities. The differences of cultural are very influential to increase our knowledge in listening, because we know how someones speaks , the habitual and also increase our vocabularies. For stimulating real-world cultural information to the students to know and share we come to the second book.
The second book which is support my ideas is about Stimulating Integration of Real-world Cultural Information for Students to Know and Share. This book tells about The primary place language where it is situated in cultural. Most students of a foreign language are interested in the cultural of the places where the language they are studying is spoken. English presents an interesting case with regard to culture because it is now an international language. Students will naturally wish to share their own culture and learn about other culturea through the medium of English. This sharing of culture is potentially to be very motivating. It is motivating to hear about culturesyou are unfamiliar with, and it is motivating to find the words to describe your own culture in English.  In listening context by knowing the cultural, we directly ca get many knowledge, so that we can improve our English ability in listening.
To become such a good listener, we must listen for the differences first. The third book explained about listen for differences. a skillful listener deliberately seeks out and pays attention to the ways others are different from us. We begin to and appreciate the way human beings have been shaped, molded, and often distorted by culture, schooling, family of origin, genetic makeup, and any number of other unknown factors. After we’ve learned to listen for differences and develop an appreciation for them, we can cherish and celebrate our special uniqueness. So that, listen for differences can train us to be a good listener.
I tought to unify the differences and improve the social life that has been discussed in the previous book, in listening we must used the group listening activity. I get the point in group listening on that book. With group listening before the activity, a class needs to be prepared for a session of this kind. The teacher should first play the recording to the whole class for general understanding and then introduce and explain the questions or task. The learners move into groups to carry out the exercise, each group with its own copy of the recording. One member of the group takes responsibility for replaying short sections of the recording on demand, as the group seeks to locate the information it needs, while another serves as secretary and reported back and compared. Group activity is very useful for students to get more knowing each other. They can improving social life and cooperation in all respects, especially in listening. Based on my experience, I’ve never done such kind of listening activity in groups in listening class. We just listened to the record individually in our sts and answer the questions. I think group activiy was interesting methods, we can comprehend better about what we hear when we listen to the listening group. We also become active speaker since we discuss our understanding to each other.
The last book tell about Value of Focus Group. The focus group is an invisible part of the marketing machinery. Focus group are the ideal place to begin to understand what products mean to consumers in their deep technique that lets you dig past the measurements. Listening in focus groups is like painting. Each panelist and each group adds color and texture. In the end, a cohesive picture ahould and usually does emerge. There are several points of focus groups. First, ask consumers what they think before you assume you know what they need. Second, use surveys to find out when, how many, or how often; Use focus groups to find out why. Third, listen hard for apportunity ; sometimes it knocks softly. Then, focus groups don’t  provide solutions. They help you form a picture that reveals your possibilities and limits. Next, a good focus group will yield better questions, not definitive answers.
